Explora Journeys is expanding its Caribbean program this fall while introducing two new Journey Collections for the 2027-2028 season, adding routes across South America, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Islands.
Explora in the Caribbean
EXPLORA III begins the Caribbean season on Oct. 15, 2026, departing Quebec City and sailing south along the Atlantic seaboard to reach San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Nov. 1, marking the ship’s first Caribbean deployment. EXPLORA I follows on Nov. 17, departing Miami after completing a transatlantic crossing from Barcelona. The two ships will sail the Caribbean from mid-October 2026 through March 2027, calling at Saint Barthelemy, Saint Lucia and the British Virgin Islands along with a mix of lesser-visited islands.
Shore offerings include swimming through the sea pools and granite boulders of The Baths on Virgin Gorda, watching humpback whales in Samana Bay, hiking to waterfalls in Dominica’s rainforest and snorkeling at Grenada’s Underwater Sculpture Park. In Port of Spain, soca and steelpan performances highlight Trinidad and Tobago’s culture, while smaller boat excursions reach Anguilla’s Little Bay. Guadeloupe’s Deshaies botanical gardens and jet ski trips to Coco Island off Saint Barthelemy round out the coastal itinerary, alongside culinary experiences such as a beachside lobster lunch in Antigua, a rum-blending session in Saint Kitts and a chocolate-making class in Saint Lucia.
Onboard dining draws on fresh seafood and regional produce, with no fixed dining times. The holiday period brings Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year celebrations at sea, and on New Year’s Eve guests aboard EXPLORA III can watch fireworks over San Juan from the ship.
New Journey Collections
For the Northern Winter 2027-2028 season, two new Journey Collections aboard EXPLORA I and EXPLORA V replace sailings previously planned for the Middle East and Red Sea. The routes join EXPLORA II and EXPLORA IV in the Caribbean and EXPLORA III in Asia.
- From Dec. 2027 to March 2028, EXPLORA I sails 10 Journeys to 37 destinations across Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, the Falkland Islands and Chile, including 20 new ports for the line, 12 of them in Brazil
- The route includes five overnight stays in Buenos Aires, Puerto Madryn and Rio de Janeiro, plus eight late departures in cities including Balneario Camboriu, Port Stanley, Rio de Janeiro and Maceio
- The itinerary continues toward Patagonia—known as the edge of the world—connecting Montevideo and the Beagle Channel with Puerto Williams, Punta Arenas and Cape Horn, and passing glaciers, fjords and isolated archipelagos
EXPLORA V will complete 21 Journeys across three legs between December 2027 and April 2028, sailing the Western and Central Mediterranean and North Africa’s coastline before moving into the Atlantic in January and returning to the Mediterranean in March. The ship adds a new call in Crotone, Italy, with late departures in Salerno, Livorno, Palma de Mallorca, Kotor and Ibiza. Istanbul calls allow time for evening exploration, while a stop in Pauillac, France, provides access to Bordeaux’s wine estates. Stops in Los Cristianos in Tenerife, the Canary Islands and Madeira, along with overnight stays in Casablanca and Lisbon, complete the collection. Both new itineraries include Christmas at sea and New Year’s Eve celebrations, with EXPLORA V positioned off the coast of Naples for the city’s fireworks display.
Both collections feature oceanfront suites with private terraces, along with dining and ocean wellness offerings consistent across the fleet.
