This story has been updated as new Las Vegas openings are announced.
After two months of shutdown due to the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, Las Vegas is slowly waking from its slumber as more and more resorts and casinos reopen.
On the heels of reopening its first three Las Vegas properties, MGM Resorts International will be bringing several of its resorts online in the weeks ahead. Luxor and The Shoppes at Mandalay Bay Place will reopen on June 25. They will be followed by ARIA and Mandalay Bay, Four Seasons Las Vegas, on July 1.
“It was exciting and emotional to see the energy in Las Vegas last week as we welcomed back our employees and reopened our doors to guests for the first time in months,” said Bill Hornbuckle, MGM Resorts’ acting CEO and president, in a statement. “Our guests are having a great time and are thrilled to be back in the city they love. We are eager to get more of our employees back to work and enhance the Las Vegas experience with additional resorts.”
Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Four Seasons and ARIA join Bellagio, MGM Grand, and New York-New York, which opened earlier this month and Excalibur which is expected to open on June 11.
On June 4, life was breathed back into the Strip when The Cosmopolitan, Caesars Palace, the Flamingo, the Venetian Resort’s Venetian and Palazzo towers, and Wynn Las Vegas opened on the Strip and Station Casinos and Boyd Gaming properties opened off the Strip.
Additionally, Caesars has reopened selected retail and dining outlets along The LINQ Promenade, as well as the High Roller Observation Wheel. On Friday, June 5, Harrah’s Las Vegas also resumed operations.
On June 12, Caesars will be reopening the LINQ Hotel + Experience’s casino’s gaming floor and select amenities.
The plan to reopen certain offerings at The LINQ follows a successful reopening weekend at Caesars Palace Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas and Harrah’s Las Vegas.
“It has been a pleasure to welcome guests and team members back to some of our properties in Las Vegas and in other parts of the country,” said Tony Rodio, Chief Executive Officer, in a statement. “We are encouraged by customer interest and visits, strong demand and the implementation, so far, of our enhanced health and safety protocols. This is a new way of operating and we will continue to evaluate and adjust our procedures to enhance guest and team member comfort and experiences. Our expansion plans will continue to reflect customer demand as well as a focus on properly executing health and safety directives. Adding The LINQ gaming floor, food and beverage amenities, as well as The LINQ pool, in addition to expanded amenities at Caesars Palace and Harrah’s, are the next steps towards resuming normal business operations in Las Vegas,” Rodio added.
