Scandinavia’s Up Norway is introducing a unique 7-day women’s expedition called Arctic Women, Blazing Trails. Set to debut from March 25 to April 1, 2026, this journey combines Arctic survival skills with transformative experiences in Norway’s rugged northern landscape.
Up Norway’s Empowering Adventure
Limited to eight participants, the expedition is designed and led by two of Norway’s top outdoor experts. The journey begins in Bodo, where your clients will travel by express boat to Naustholmen, a small islet in the Steigen archipelago. Here, they meet Randi Skaug, the first Norwegian woman to conquer Everest and the Seven Summits. Under Skaug’s guidance, participants learn essential Arctic skills, including layering for warmth, fire-building and safe coastal trail navigation.
The adventure continues with an overnight sail aboard Hurtigruten’s MS Vesteralen, with its blend of authentic heritage and Scandinavian comfort. The final leg unfolds on Senja, Norway’s second-largest island above the Arctic Circle. At Norwegian Wild, a nature-based retreat founded by Hege Enge Dekkerhus, guests dive deeper into outdoor skills and resilience-building practices.
Activities on Senja include snowshoeing through birch forests, open-flame cooking, ice fishing, winter kayaking and husky sledding (when conditions permit). Accommodations range from cozy Nordic cabins to an optional night of weather-dependent tent camping.
This expedition goes beyond a typical group tour, offering a week-long dialogue with women who have built their lives in the Arctic. Skaug’s grit-filled storytelling complements Dekkerhus’s focus on presence and well-being, encouraging participants to develop tangible skills while exploring personal strength in a supportive community.
Following the inaugural trip, Arctic Women, Blazing Trails will be available as a customizable journey for private groups year-round. The package includes curated accommodations, guided activities, some meals, local transfers (including the Havila coastal voyage) and Up Norway’s comprehensive travel services.
