Buckle up—Detroit’s Shinola Hotel is hitting the road. Teaming up with Otis Harbor Springs, a reimagined mid-century gem on Northern Michigan’s coast, Shinola Hotel, occupying the Motor City’s historic former T.B. Rayl Co. department store and Singer Sewing Machine Company building, is inviting travelers to shift gears from urban energy to lakeside leisure with its new City to Shore Experience.
This curated road trip experience, which is bookable starting tomorrow, connects Detroit’s dynamic city scene with the calm beauty of Northern Michigan during peak fall colors.
Available for select dates in September and October, the City to Shore Experience, includes Wednesday and Thursday nights in Shinola Hotel’s Cass King accommodations and Friday and Saturday nights in Otis Harbor Springs’ Lakeside Superior accommodations; a $100 dining credit for both Shinola Hotel and Otis Harbor Springs; and complimentary breakfast each morning.
The Motor City’s first and only MICHELIN Key hotel, Shinola Hotel, which opened in 2019, has 129 rooms, numerous event spaces and five food and beverage concepts, including upscale Italian restaurant, San Morello; beer hall, The Brakeman; and fried chicken spot, Penny Red’s. Additionally, guests can shop specially curated options at Parker’s Alley with a mix of global brands in addition to homegrown businesses.
The 31-room Otis Harbor Springs is nestled on eight acres of land between lush meadows and historic horse farms. Each of its accommodations feature custom furnishings, Frette linens and products by Flamingo Estate. The hotel is home to three F&B spaces: the Fireplace Lounge, a central gathering space overlooking the outdoors with craft cocktails; Birchwood General, an onsite shop offering guests a selection of local goods alongside charcuterie and drinks that can be taken away for a day of exploring the natural surroundings; and The Cafe, featuring La Colombe coffee alongside an assortment of pastries and takeaway breakfast items.
