Disney’s Hollywood Studios will debut a new attraction, The Magic of Disney Animation, in 2026. Located in the current Star Wars: Launch Bay building, the experience is inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank and the award-winning short film “Once Upon a Studio.” The reimagined space will feature interactive areas themed to animation departments, where Disney characters come to life in the absence of animators. Topping the building will be Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat, just like the real building in California.
In the Production Gallery, guests can see portraits come to life, while in the Screening Theater, they’ll watch a family-friendly short film. They’ll also draw fan-favorite characters and meet them in person.
The new Hollywood Studios area will also feature a an all-new indoor playground, Drawn to Wonderland, inspired by the whimsical concept art of “Alice in Wonderland.” Here, the littlest of theme park-goers will find an oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset and a Tugley Wood exploration area.
In addition to the new offerings, the exteriors of several existing buildings will be reimagined with design elements inspired by buildings found in Burbank. To prepare for the transformation, Animation Courtyard, Star Wars: Launch Bay and Disney Jr. Play and Dance! will close beginning Sept. 25, 2025. “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” and Walt Disney Presents will remain open during the renovation.
Meanwhile, on the U.S. West Coast, Disneyland will be celebrating all year long.
