Norwegian Cruise Line President David Herrera has stepped down after two years, with parent company CEO Harry Sommer assuming the role on an interim basis.
Herrera’s departure is part of a leadership transition, and the company has launched a search for his successor.
According to an Aug. 20 Securities and Exchange Commission filing from parent company Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, Herrera is out as president “as part of a strategic leadership change.”
As president, Herrera was responsible for the overall strategic vision and business plan execution for NCL, and oversaw revenue management, guest services, brand finance, international sales and the Experiences at Sea division, which provides events at sea for a range of affinity communities.
Before stepping into the role of president, he served as NCL’s Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for Norwegian Cruise Line, responsible for driving demand and global market share across the Company’s key global source markets. In this role, he oversaw the organization’s consumer advertising and promotional strategy as well as direct outbound and online sales channels.
