Virgin Voyages Unveils Solar Eclipse Cruises With NASA Astronauts and Space Experts

Virgin Voyages is offering two 2026 Solar Eclipse Voyages featuring NASA astronauts, astrophysicists and scientists.

Part of the cruise line’s Marvelous Collection, the adults-only sailings aboard Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady are timed to place guests directly in the path of totality during the Aug. 12, 2026, total solar eclipse.

Two Sailings, One Rare Celestial Event

Travelers can choose between two European itineraries designed around the eclipse.

Valiant Lady will operate a 15-night Solar Eclipse: Iceland & British Isles voyage from Aug. 5-20, calling on Portsmouth, Dublin, Glasgow, Liverpool, Belfast, Siglufjordur, Isafjordur, Reykjavik and Edinburgh.

Scarlet Lady will sail a 12-night Barcelona to Rome itinerary from Aug. 10-22, with stops in Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Cannes, Ajaccio, Tuscany/Cinque Terre, the Amalfi Coast and Catania before arriving in Rome.

Astronauts, Eclipse Experts and Wellness at Sea

Guests will have access to a lineup of educational and immersive programming throughout the voyage, including presentations and Q&A sessions with NASA astronauts and Virgin Galactic representatives, talks from solar physicists, eclipse photography workshops and expert-led viewing experiences during totality.

Programming also extends beyond science with wellness-focused experiences, including meditation and energy sessions timed to coincide with the eclipse.

Travelers will be able to choose from designated eclipse viewing areas featuring silent observation, live music or expert narration.

Celestial Shore Excursions

Virgin Voyages is also introducing eclipse-themed shore excursions that complement the onboard experience.

Highlights include a visit to the Armagh Observatory paired with a cider tasting in Belfast; a guided exploration of Mallorca’s Genova Caves focused on astronomy and local folklore; a yoga and sound bath experience in Ibiza; and a scenic drive through Iceland’s Troll Peninsula ending with a geothermal soak.
