Royal Caribbean International has officially welcomed its newest ship, Star of the Seas, now part of the cruise line’s next-generation Icon Class. After nearly two years of construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the ship was handed over during a celebratory ceremony attended by more than 1,250 crew members, executives and shipbuilders.
Set to debut in August from Port Canaveral in Orlando, Star of the Seas will offer 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises to top-rated destinations, including Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Like her sister ship, Icon of the Seas, Star features eight distinct neighborhoods. Highlights include:

Thrill Island: Home to Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea, with six record-breaking waterslides and attractions like Crown’s Edge, a skywalk-thrill ride 154 feet above the ocean.

Surfside: A dedicated space for young families with splash zones, kid-friendly dining, and nearby relaxation areas for adults.

Chill Island: Three decks of pools, swim-up bars, live entertainment, and the largest pool at sea, Royal Bay.

AquaDome: A glass-enclosed oasis featuring ocean views by day and high-tech shows at night, including diving and aerial performances at the AquaTheater.
Additional features include reimagined fleet favorites like Central Park, Royal Promenade and the new Lincoln Park Supper Club, plus expansive suite options across four decks and the adults-only Hideaway featuring a suspended infinity pool.
Star of the Seas is Royal Caribbean’s third LNG-powered ship, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability and moving toward its goal of net-zero emissions by 2035.
