Windstar Cruises is upping its presence in Tahiti, with plans to introduce two yachts sailing year-round starting March 2027. The refreshed Wind Star will join the all-suite Star Breeze, creating the most extensive deployment in the South Pacific for Windstar.
“Tahiti is part of our DNA, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring our sailing yacht back to these legendary waters,” said Christopher Prelog, president of Windstar Cruises, in a press statement. “By offering the largest number of departures in Tahiti, we offer unparalleled flexibility and choice—whether you crave the romance of sailing under starry skies or the comfort of an all-suite yacht. However you go, it’s all Windstar: laid-back luxury, local flavor, and a front-row seat to the most beautiful place on earth.”
Windstar Hearts Fiji
With these two vessels operating simultaneously, your clients can choose between two distinct experiences. The Wind Star, accommodating just 148 passengers, will operate the weekly 7-night Dreams of Tahiti itinerary. Each trip includes a stop at Raiatea, an island rich in cultural significance as it is considered the ancestral homeland of Maori people—a feature not found on other similar itineraries.
On the other hand, Star Breeze will cater to clients seeking longer voyages that explore remote destinations such as the Tuamotus and the Marquesas Islands. These journeys can be combined into extended Star Collector Voyages, lasting up to 21 days, for a more immersive experience.
New features for 2027 include an increase in cruise departures—more than any other line—and an Early Goodbye disembarkation option that allows ships to arrive in Papeete by evening on the day before departure. This timing facilitates same-evening flights back to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), optimizing time spent on vacation.
Additionally, simplified cruise plus hotel packages make it easier for guests to extend their stay with overwater bungalows, while flexible flight options are available through Windstar or independently.
Windstar has also introduced AquaBanas—private floating lounges equipped with sunshades and tables—providing resort-like comfort at sea. Exclusive Destination Discovery Events offer immersive experiences, including Polynesian feasts featuring fire dancing and local cuisine, all set under the open skies. Onboard Cultural Ambassadors lead activities such as ukulele lessons and traditional crafts, while cooking demonstrations highlight local dishes.
Shore excursions guided by locals reveal hidden gems across islands; activities include snorkeling in coral gardens or learning about Tahitian vanilla cultivation.
