American Cruise Lines is continuing its U.S. fleet expansion with the announcement of two new riverboats: American Beauty, launching on the Mississippi River in 2028, and American Rhapsody, debuting on the Columbia and Snake rivers in 2029.
The new riverboats will bring American Cruise Lines’ fleet to 30 vessels. Like the company’s other riverboats, the new vessels will accommodate 180 guests and feature private balcony accommodations.
New Ships Expand Regional River Cruise Options
American Beauty is scheduled to debut in Sept. 2028 on the line’s 8-day Upper Mississippi River cruises between St. Louis and St. Paul. Later in the season, the ship will also operate American Cruise Lines’ new 8-day Gulf Coast itineraries between New Orleans and Pensacola, FL.
In 2029, American Rhapsody will debut on the Columbia & Snake Rivers, sailing 9-day itineraries between Portland, Oregon, and Clarkston, Washington.
The two ships follow three previously announced additions to the riverboat fleet: American Encore, which debuted in May; American Anthem, scheduled to launch in April 2027; and American Grace, debuting in April 2028.
American Cruise Lines is adding new ships at a rate of three per year as demand for domestic river cruising continues to grow.
American Beauty and American Rhapsody will feature six decks, all private balcony staterooms, including Singles and Suites, and each will showcase the company’s newest accommodation—the 1,500 sq. ft. Signature Suite. These new riverboats will also offer numerous spacious lounges, including top-deck lounges with walking tracks, chart rooms, main restaurants and cafes, as well as fitness centers and other onboard amenities.
