Royal Caribbean has announced Hero of the Seas, the fourth ship in its Icon Class lineup, set to debut from Miami in August 2027. The new vessel builds on the brand’s family-focused strategy, introducing expanded amenities, accommodations and dining concepts designed to appeal to multigenerational travelers.

The Most Pools at Sea

The ship will feature eight distinct neighborhoods and, according to the cruise line, the “most pools at sea,” with nine total pool experiences ranging from family-friendly zones to adults-only areas. A new concept, Coconut Cove, will offer a Caribbean-inspired pool environment with in-water loungers and poolside service, while the adults-only Hideaway will include dual pools, a swim-up bar and an in-water DJ experience.

Hero of the Seas will expand Category 6, the brand’s onboard waterpark, with new family raft slides, including what is described as the first funnel raft slide at sea. Additional attractions include the Crown’s Edge aerial experience, FlowRider surf simulator, rock-climbing wall and a range of sports courts.

Dining Venues

Dining is another major component, with 28 venues planned across the ship. New concepts include the Orleans Parish Supper Club, featuring Cajun and Creole cuisine paired with live jazz, and Royal Railway – Hero Station, an immersive dining experience combining storytelling, technology and themed environments.

Family-friendly programming will also expand to include hands-on cooking classes, while returning favorites such as Izumi, Chops Grille and Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen will remain part of the lineup.

Accommodations are designed with families in mind, including the introduction of the three-story Ultimate Family Treehouse suite, along with multi-level townhouses and Surfside Family Suites. Premium suite categories, including Royal Loft and Icon Loft Suites, will also be available.

Hero of the Seas will operate 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, all calling on Perfect Day at CocoCay. Additional ports of call include destinations such as Cozumel, St. Thomas and St. Maarten.

Bookings are now open, with early access provided to Crown & Anchor Society members ahead of general availability.
