Small Luxury Hotels of the World has announced three new hotel openings this September. The independently owned hotels are located in Italy, France, and Spain, and each property showcases the local culture and landscape of its region.
Les Sources de Cheverny in the Loire Valley vineyards of France pays homage to its location, which has been designated by UNESCO as a “living cultural landscape.” Everything in the hotel, from the local produce served in the restaurant, to the artisanal wooden WaterRower fitness machines, solid oak jacuzzi, and thermal pool complement the surrounding farms, vineyards and the estate’s 100+ acres of woodland. The hotel offers 49 rooms including the iconic Le Baron Perche, a wooden suite perched on stilts overlooking the lake, filled with neutral colors, unusual objects sourced by owner Alice Tourbier at local flea markets, and a private Nordic bath. More than 500 miles of cycle paths wind through the Loire vineyards, along the banks of the river and past Renaissance chateaux; complimentary bikes are also available for guests to use from the hotel. Rooms start at $324 per night including breakfast. Click here for more information.
Galleria Via Milano is located in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and is circled by Milan’s best-loved shops, landmarks, restaurants and galleries. The 88-room property is part-hotel, part-post modern art gallery, and features the work of artists such as Giuseppe Gonella, Pino Pinelli, Felipe Cardena and Shinya Sakurai. Bedrooms and corridors serve as exhibition spaces, and there are no televisions so the art is the star of the show. The hotel also offers two restaurants, Vikissimo for dawn-to-dusk food and drinks, and I Dodici Gatti dedicated to wood-fired pizza. Rooms start at $288 per night including breakfast. Torre del Marques in Matarrana, Spain is a 15th century farmhouse that has been reimagined for the 21st century with a bio-sustainable makeover and an organic zero-kilometer restaurant. The 18-room hotel is located in Aragon, one of the least discovered regions of the Spanish countryside yet easily accessible from Barcelona. Set within 370 acres of forest, farmland and vineyards, the hotel restaurant showcases local delicacies such as olives, almonds, honey and black truffles, which grow in the gardens and grounds, as well as local wines such as Tempranillo. Rooms start at $323 per night including breakfast. Click here for more information.
