Have you been to Vietnam? Take a walk for a cause with Intrepid Travel—and you might just get there for free. The company’s Marathon Walk, their flagship fundraising event, has brought together hundreds of people from over 15 countries over the past six years. On Sept. 10, the walk will raise funds for Vietnam’s Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides rescue care, shelter, legal advocacy and long-term support to victims of human trafficking.
“Raising just $250 can keep a child at risk in school for one year. $350 can reunite a trafficked victim with their family and provide them with emergency support to start over,” said Intrepid Chair Darrell Wade in a press statement. “By fundraising or sponsoring the Blue Dragon Marathon Walk, you can easily yet dramatically change the lives of children and families in need.”
Walk with Intrepid Travel, and Everyone Wins
Vietnam is one of Intrepid Travel’s top markets and a very popular destination, one that, according to Intrepid Foundation’s GM Biheng Zhang, has “welcomed [Intrepid] with open hearts and generous hospitality.”
To give back, the company is inviting industry members to create teams (you can also walk as an individual) and sign up for a mini (10km), half (21km) or full (42km) marathon on the fundraising page to help them reach their goal of raising $250,000 for this cause. One hundred percent of the money raised will go directly to Blue Dragon.
In return, Intrepid Travel is giving away five adventures on its 10-day Vietnam Express Southbound itinerary to the top fundraisers in the event. The trip is valued at $1,468. This is the first time the company gives away trips to the top two individual fundraisers and the top three team fundraisers.
