Learn how to create a Backroads gourmet picnic

Backroads, the active tour company, has responded to the impact of shelter in place restrictions by bringing the Backroads experience to future guests in a variety of ways.

The Backroads virtual experience includes a video series, Facebook Live events and travel reading recommendations, with even more stay-at-home content promised soon. The virtual content is ideal to send to clients to inspire them for future bookings of active vacations.

Bite Sized Backroads Trips
The first Bite Sized Backroads Trip video launched this week and focuses on Yosemite National Park. Each week the tour company will release a new video for future guests to enjoy one of their trips virtually. Next week’s subject will be a South Africa Multi-Adventure tour, followed by Bryce & Zion Bike Tour, Mallorca, Canyonlands and more.

The “Bite Sized Backroads Trip – Yosemite National Park” video is available here.

Facebook Live
This Friday, April 3, Backroads will be hosting a Facebook Live session on how to make a Backroads gourmet picnic. One of the tour company’s signature experiences on every trip are the gourmet picnics they present, and they will reveal some of the tricks of the trade and teach guests how to create their own picnics. This FB Live session features a California
Wine Country Trip Leader showing how to make a picnic. Future FB Live sessions will focus on other skills and activities that Trip Leaders make look easy on a trip.

Backroads Reading Lists
Backroads will be running a series of suggested reading lists created by Trip Leaders who work out in the field leading Backroads trips across the globe. The books are not the usual run-of-the-mill armchair travel suggestions, and include titles such as “The Legend of Colton H. Bryant” by Alexandra Fuller (location: Grand Tetons & Yellowstone); “Shantaram” by Gregory David Roberts (location: Bombay, India); “Homage to Catalonia” by George Orwell (Location: Catalonia, Spain); “Invisible Cities” by Italo Calvino (location: Venice, Italy); and “The Big Burn” by Timothy Egan (location: Idaho & Montana).

Backroads is in the process of creating further virtual content that will include recipes, workout lists, videos and more.
