Stepping foot into the sun-washed grand lobby of the recently remodeled Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun, it was the glorious views of the blue sky and palm trees through the floor-to-ceiling windows that I first noticed, then a calm-inducing scent captured my attention, coupled with the gentle sounds coming from the minimalist fountain that’s the heart of the space. While I sipped on a stress-relieving tea, my shoulders relaxed, a smile emerged, all my senses awakened, and I slowly slipped into paradise. At this resort, says Valerie van Rooij, the resort’s public relations manager, “we like to touch all five senses.”

Dubbed a “sensory experience resort,” this adults-only, 371-room and -suite oceanfront property, part of La Coleccion Resorts by Fiesta Americana, has just come off a multi-million-dollar renovation, and now showcases reimagined guestrooms, an upgraded Aqua Club—a VIP experience—and new dining venues, as well as a refurbished beach and pool area.

I had visited the resort a couple of years back and I was happy to see that many of my favorite elements were still in place, including the indulgent hydrotherapy ritual at the Feel Harmony Spa—not to mention signature treatments such as the superb Caviar Deluxe Facial; the delightful Asian restaurant, Hidden Garden, tucked away under a leafy tree and lit up come nighttime with soft lighting (recommend active clients head here in the morning for a terrific yoga class); and the artistic rice creations that add a special touch to guestrooms upon guest arrival (tip: you might want to recommend this for a celebratory stay).

New delights I fell in love with during this visit include the enhanced smoothie bar at Siete restaurant—they’ll handcraft a concoction just to your liking and mood; Inlaa’Kech Restaurant, featuring an interactive dining concept that takes diners on an exquisite 12-course culinary journey through Mexico showcasing surprising elements such as fantastical beings, cocktail-making with a fun twist, and enchanting storytelling; and the amusing items left in the room during turndown including an incense and a chime.

Our guests have decided to vacation with us, so we have a responsibility to cater to them, because we are people taking care of people.
— Fernando Tremari, Sales & Marketing Director, Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun

Throughout the resort, guests will find 10 restaurants, including the casual elegant MB with a new wine cellar, as well as seven pools, each offering a different temperature and ambiance, depending whether clients want to “party or relax,” notes Van Rooij (a perk for those who reserve a poolside cabana is the foot massage).

And when it comes to accommodations, I recommend you book your clients into
one of the 58 spacious Aqua Club rooms, located on the 5th and 6th floors of the resort and offering access to the newly remodeled Aqua Club Lounge, with private concierge, private check-in/out, continental breakfast, coffee and beverages, top-brand drinks, snacks, and tea time.

This is undeniably one of the best properties in Cancun for adults. The renovations simply made a resort that was already top-notch move up even more notches.
