If your clients are looking to immerse themselves in an off-the-beaten path part of Tel Aviv, The Drisco Hotel in the city’s historic American Colony neighborhood may have just the ticket. The hotel has just launched hyperlocal tours focused on the best The American Colony and neighboring Noga districts have to offer.
The two-hour tours are led by an expert local guide who will take guests to some of the historic sights within The American Colony area, including the early 20th-century Immanuel Church and the mid 19th-century wooden Maine Friendship House. The New England-style house dates to the founding of the American Colony neighborhood, outside Jaffa, by a group of American Christians in 1866. It was transported from the U.S. in pre-fabricated sections aboard the Nellie Chaplin along with 35 families and their wooden houses. The tour will also explore Noga, a thriving four-block district popular with fashion designers, art galleries and restaurateurs. As well as visiting ateliers of local fashion designers and local galleries, guests can sample local coffee shops and cafes.
The tours are priced at $150 for up to four people and run Sundays to Thursdays.
The historic Drisco Hotel, part of the Leading Hotels of the World Collection, was established in 1866. A landmark heritage property, it was renamed the Jerusalem Hotel in 1870 and from then to the 1940s it became a leading luxury property for the region, frequented by wealthy American and European travelers including Thomas Cook and Mark Twain. In 2018, it underwent a major restoration and was renamed the Drisco Hotel in honor of its founders.
