Alaia, a new boutique resort is set to open in Belize in 2020.
Opening as an Autograph Collection Hotel, Alaia will be situated in the historic town of San Pedro featuring 35 units, 56 two-bedroom condominiums, and eight villas for a total of 155 guestrooms. When completed, Alaia will offer guests a beach club, a rooftop suspended pool and lounge offering ocean views, a full service spa, a fitness center, a kids club, a dive shop and an art gallery.
Nearby, guests can experience more than 200 cayes filled with several preserved Mayan Temples, including Xunantunich, which is the second tallest ruin in the country; plus lush jungles, rainforest canopies, and archaeological sites including the Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave, which consists of a series of chambers where sacrificial ceremonies once took place. Here, guests can view ceramics, stoneware, and skeletal remains from over 1,000 years ago in their original context. For those looking to explore the underwater world, the country is home to the second largest barrier reef in the world, as well as several wrecked ships full of history.
