Tauck Expands Fleet with Two New River Ships in 2027

Tauck has announced plans to launch two additional river ships in 2027, marking the company’s largest fleet expansion in its river cruising history. Combined with two new ships debuting in 2026, the four-vessel increase will boost Tauck’s overall river cruise capacity by 30 percent compared to 2025 levels.

“The enthusiasm for our river cruising experiences has been extraordinary,” said Jennifer Tombaugh, Tauck CEO, in a media statement. “Guests appreciate the intimate atmosphere fostered by our ‘small is big’ philosophy, particularly in high-demand destinations like the Douro and France, where space is naturally limited. These new riverboats will enable us to host more guests in these beloved regions, while continuing to deliver the personalized, exceptional experience that is the hallmark of Tauck River Cruising.”

Ship Features and Design

Tauck’s ship capacity ranges from 84 to 130 passengers, depending on vessel size. More than three-quarters of staterooms measure at least 225 square feet, with a selection of 300-square-foot Category 5 Tauck Suites on the Diamond Deck. These suites feature walk-in closets, seating areas and king beds positioned to face the passing river views.

The Seine-based ship will mirror the design of ms Serene, launching in 2026, and will introduce a new wellness-focused space called The Retreat. This expanded area will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, a fitness center, a treatment room and a lounge offering coffee, juices and snacks. The Sun Deck will include a swimming pool and bar, while Arthur’s dining venue at the bow will provide panoramic views of the Seine.

On Portugal’s Douro River, Tauck’s new river ship will join ms Andorinha and include design features tailored to the region, such as hydraulic systems to navigate the Douro’s locks. Arthur’s dining venue will be positioned at the stern, offering 360-degree views of terraced vineyards and river landscapes.

All-Inclusive Experience

As with all Tauck river cruises, the new ships will offer a fully inclusive model. Fares cover shore excursions, gratuities, airport transfers, beverages (including premium wines and spirits), luggage handling and taxes.

Reservations for 2027 cruises are now open, with refundable deposits available until final details are announced later this fall. To meet interest from travelers and advisors, the company is opening its 2027 season earlier than usual, allowing reservations with refundable deposits while final itineraries and pricing are finalized later this year.

“Every detail on these new ships has been designed to elevate the guest experience while cruising along two of Europe’s most storied rivers,” continued Tombaugh. “With our incredible team on the river and ashore, guests feel the Tauck difference in every thoughtful detail and seamless moment, creating travel experiences that become the stories that stay with them long after they’ve returned home.”
