Carnival Corporation’s Leadership Changes

Today, Arnold Donald, president and CEO of Carnival Corporation & pls announced that as of August 1, 2022, he will transition to the role of vice chair of the corporation. In addition, Josh Weinstein, current COO, will assume the role of president and CEO of Carnival Corporation & plc.

Weinstein, whose 20-year career with Carnival has included roles such as corporate attorney, treasurer, president of Carnival UK, and most recently COO.

Josh is “a proven executive who is well respected throughout the company having served in many key leadership roles, driving business results during his tenure and playing an integral part of stewarding our company through the global pandemic,” said Donald who has been the CEO for nine years. Adding that, “Josh’s thorough understanding of our industry, of our operations and our business strategy, puts him in a tremendous position to lead the next phase of our company’s great journey. And on a very personal level, Josh is just a great person. He’s a tireless worker and a terrific leader.

Weinstein said, “It will truly be a privilege to lead and support such a talented team of over 100,000 colleagues, ship and shore, who do such an incredible job in delivering joyful vacations to our guests day in and day out. I’d also like to thank our chairman, Micky Arison, and the boards of directors for their support and confidence in me. I look forward to us building upon the company’s success as we move forward together.”

The transition will take place over the next three months, as Donald prepares to pass on his responsibilities to Weinstein.

Donald also thanked the Carnival staff in his remarks for their hard work—especially during the last couple of years, “The pandemic has brought us even closer together. Now while there is no doubt there will be challenges we’ll continue to face, together we have our company positioned for great success over time. Our entire fleet will be sailing again by this fall. We’ll be returning to overall profitability and on track for positive quarterly earnings in the third quarter. We have accelerated our path to excellence in compliance, environmental protection and the well-being of everyone. And we have made meaningful strides in diversity and inclusion and in our ESG aspirations more broadly.”
