Having sailed on the Scenic Group’s Scenic Eclipse, I can attest to a singular experience that feels ultra-luxe yet relaxed and unpretentious. The attention to detail on every level is remarkable. So, I jumped at the opportunity to tour the new sister ship Scenic Eclipse II last week, when it was docked in PortMiami prior to honoring Scenic Group’s travel advisor partners at its second annual “Night of the Stars” awards ceremony, held at the Frost Museum of Science.

What’s New on Board Scenic Eclipse II

Clients who have sailed on Eclipse will recognize the overall flow and modern, yacht-like design aesthetic on Eclipse II, along with some thoughtful changes and enhancements. Mirror TVs in the staterooms, which were difficult to view from bed, have been replaced with flat-screen TVs that swivel. Enhancements in the two top-tier Owner’s Penthouse Suites, with 646-sq.-ft. wraparound balconies and 1,453 sq. ft. of posh living and sleeping space, include a spa bathroom with steam shower and two infrared seats that warm the body through ergonomic backrests. These same types of seats have been installed in the expanded spa’s salt therapy lounge. The spa also features a larger steam room with aromatherapy, an ice fountain and “experience” showers with water at different temperatures and intensities.

The biggest architectural change on the new ship is on deck 10, where two new “vitality” pools (combining heat, massage and movement) and the chic Panorama Bar invite relaxation. Epicure, a new culinary demonstration and dining area for guests, is expected to open soon.

Not seen on my tour but due to be ready for the ship’s first Antarctica voyage, is the next generation state-of-the-art submersible, Scenic Neptune II

“At Scenic, once enhancements are completed, we look at upgrading earlier ships the same way,” Ken Muskat, managing director, Scenic Group, told Recommend. “We want to ensure that all ships meet the same standards.”

Travel Advisors Appreciated
Glen Moroney, founder and chairman of Scenic Group, was on hand at the celebratory event to honor Scenic’s top advisors and watch the ship sail out of Miami.  “I am so impressed with the quality of travel advisors we have helping us promote our unique portfolio of river ships and ocean yachts—and so appreciative of all of those who are being recognized tonight,” he said.
