Over in Fort Lauderdale, a new Kimpton property has swung open its doors—The Kimpton Goodland Hotel-Fort Lauderdale Beach. Word on the street is that it’s the destination’s first true boutique hotel—BTW it’s the brand’s seventh property in Florida and its first property in the market. Let’s take a look-see.

The 96-key hotel—check one off for “true boutique”—has opened in the building that originally housed the Escape Hotel (side note: love that name, but I digress…), which debuted in 1950 as the first year-round resort in Fort Lauderdale. Located in the North Bay Village neighborhood, this Kimpton property spans three 2-story buildings that feature four F&B venues, all tucked away behind lush greenery and exuding a retro, mid-century vibe.

The goodies your clients will find if they book this Fort Lauderdale property? An onsite fitness center, two pools—one on the ground level and the other atop the 8th floor rooftop—each complete with activated pool bar; morning coffee and tea service; evening social hour; complimentary PUBLIC bikes; in-room yoga mats; kid-friendly programming; and a pet-friendly policy. Come April 29, the Botanic and Good Bar will start welcoming guests, and debuting later this year, is an array of programs and activities like botanic-filled courtyard yoga sessions and live music on the rooftop.

Guestrooms are bright and airy.

Design motifs include fresh color palettes juxtaposed with pops of sun-drenched South Florida colors like turquoise and terra cotta, and all 96 guestrooms offer natural hues and are equipped with extra towels, beach bags, and yoga mats. Ok, yep … this new Fort Lauderdale property feels very “boutiquey,” in keeping with the traditional Kimpton vibe.

In the press release, GM Nils Bergmann had this to say: “The Goodland is primed to deliver something fresh to the Fort Lauderdale vacation experience. Our property offers a laid-back boutique ambiance that blends the destination’s past and present. We’re excited to introduce The Goodland to both locals and guests—it’s bound to become a favorite for both.” We’ll be bouncing over to this Fort Lauderdale hotel soon enough to give you a first-hand take.
