Expedition cruising and immersive storytelling will converge once again in 2027 as PONANT EXPLORATIONS GROUP expands its alliance with The Explorers Club across a new slate of voyages designed to bring travelers closer to the world’s most remote and culturally rich destinations.
The newly announced 2027 collection features 12 itineraries, pairing guests with renowned scientists, filmmakers, conservationists and explorers who will lead onboard discussions and educational programming throughout each sailing. The program also marks a milestone for the brand, with the m/s Paul Gauguin joining the initiative for the first time.

Featured speakers for the 2027 departures will sail aboard a dedicated itinerary, offering travelers insider perspectives shaped by years of field research and exploration.
Among the featured departures is The Essential Seychelles, an 8-night sailing aboard Le Dumont d’Urville departing Jan. 15, 2027. Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and author, Jon Heminway, will join the voyage, bringing his expertise in African culture, conservation and documentary storytelling to the Indian Ocean itinerary.
Another standout is the 21-night Scott & Shackleton’s Antarctic Ross Sea Expedition aboard Le Soléal, sailing round-trip from Dunedin on Jan. 25, 2027. Antarctic marine scientist, Cassandra Brooks, will guide guests through conversations centered on Antarctic ecosystems and ocean conservation while retracing routes tied to the heroic age of polar exploration.
During these voyages, researchers conduct real-time scientific studies using the vessel’s onboard laboratories, allowing guests to observe ongoing environmental and polar research firsthand. The initiative continues to reinforce the brand’s focus on blending luxury expedition travel with scientific discovery and educational enrichment.
