PONANT Launches Jazz-Themed Arctic Cruise

PONANT Explorations is expanding its cultural cruise offerings with a new jazz-themed voyage in partnership with Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Festival Marseille Jazz des Cinq Continents.

The 10-night sailing aboard Le Commandant Charcot will depart Jan. 23, 2027, traveling from Helsinki to Bergen via ports across the Baltic and North Sea. The itinerary includes stops in Tallinn, Stockholm, Visby, Skagen and multiple Norwegian destinations.

“Cultural enrichment is at the heart of what we do,” said Susan Robison, VP, Marketing and Communications, Americas, PONANT Explorations Group, in a media statement. “When our guests sail with us, they enter into a deeper conversation with the world—informed by the perspectives of leading artists and thinkers, explorers and scientists. This partnership reflects that commitment at the highest level.”

Jazz Programming at Sea

The voyage will feature a lineup of international jazz artists curated by Jason Olaine, Head of Programming at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Hugues Kieffer, Director of the Marseille Jazz Festival. Onboard programming will include live concerts, jam sessions and a tribute to the collaboration between Antonio Carlos Jobim and Stan Getz.

Featured performers include saxophonist Julian Lee, vocalist Mar Vilaseca, bassist Russell Hall, pianist Caelan Cardello, drummer Matthew Lee and Estonian artist Kadri Voorand.

The sailing is part of PONANT’s “Timeless Explorations” series, which combines destination-focused itineraries with onboard enrichment programming. Guests booking by April 30, 2026, will also receive a complimentary pre-cruise hotel stay in Helsinki.
