Hyatt Hotels Corporation has reopened Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort following a full property renovation that modernized spaces and expanded guest amenities. The 424-room, adults-only, AAA Four Diamond resort now features reconfigured accommodations, upgraded facilities and new dining concepts.
“We are thrilled to debut the newly renovated Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort following extensive enhancements to elevate the guest experience,” said Mauricio Martinez, general manager of Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort, in a press statement. “The resort delivers Secrets Resorts & Spas signature blend of romance, relaxation, and elevated experiences, while also offering guests seeking a more active getaway access to a world-class golf course and a unique mix of leisure and stunning coastal scenery that truly sets it apart.”
The Secret(s) is Out
Located inside the private Playa Mujeres gated community, about 35 minutes from Cancun International Airport, the all-suite resort sits within a Greg Norman-designed golf course and offers access to white-sand beaches and ocean views. Of note: Clients staying at Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort also have complimentary access to the nearby family-oriented Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort (but not vice versa).
All accommodations were redesigned with a coastal aesthetic using neutral tones and local materials to create a contemporary feel. The layout encourages open, relaxed spaces with subtle décor inspired by the Caribbean environment. The Preferred Club now includes a new 2-story building with a private check-in lounge on the first level and an ocean-view restaurant on the second. A new private beach club adds a quiet area with direct sea views and service perfect for smaller gatherings or romantic escapes.
Public areas were restructured to improve flow throughout the property. The Rendezvous lobby bar relocated to the former main lobby area, bringing a central meeting point to a more accessible location. The check-in area was moved closer to the guestroom zones to streamline arrival. Improved meeting and event spaces were incorporated for groups and incentive travel. The Secrets Spa has also been redesigned and will complete additional enhancements by mid-February.
Several dining and nightlife venues were reimagined. Desires Night Club and Coco Cafe received new interiors and upgraded bar concepts, while Portofino continues its Italian focus with enhanced menus and service elements. Bordeaux, the resort’s French restaurant, will reopen mid-February with an Amazonian theme.
