Universal Kids Resort is bringing a few of those beloved movie and cartoon characters to life in a brand-new theme park, set to open in 2026. Featuring attractions inspired by DreamWorks, Illumination and Jurassic World, the new destination in Frisco, Texas, promises lots of interactive play, engaging storytelling and adventures for multi-gen families or adults who like to tap into their inner child.

Universal Kids Resort will include attractions from movies like Shrek and Trolls and a 300-room on-site hotel.

“It’s an amazing opportunity to bring these iconic stories to life for kids and families to experience, interact with and play together. At each point, we considered how we could design a place especially for kids where they could explore, imagine and adventure with their families and friends. They’ll be able to do all this while being fully immersed in some of their favorite stories—ones full of curiosity, laughter and joy,” said Sarah Gibbon, VP & Executive Producer, Universal Creative, in a press statement.

Shrek, Spongebob and Minions

Your clients can step into the world of DreamWorks’ Shrek in an interactive playground designed as a whimsical swamp. Built with Shrek’s signature charm, kids can stomp, ride and play while embracing themes of friendship, family and fun. There’s also Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants with Patrick, Sandy Cheeks and Squidward offering guests an under-the-sea adventure. From earning a boating license to relaxing on the beach as bubbles float by, families can experience the nautical charm and nonsensical fun of Bikini Bottom.

At Illumination’s Minion-themed attraction, yellow Minions try to control their mischievous purple counterparts, while young explorers can embark on an exciting journey to meet and learn about dinosaurs in Jurassic World

The park also includes DreamWorks’ Trolls featuring a glitter-filled music festival. Guests of all ages can dance and sing along with Poppy, Branch and their friends in a colorful, joy-filled celebration. DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws and Perrito host a lively kitty adoption drive, featuring themed decorations, carnival-style games and fun rides. A sensory garden offers a relaxing retreat for those needing a break.

Play and Relaxation

Universal Kids Resort will also feature expansive shaded lawns and interactive play areas, providing families with spaces to relax and explore. Additionally, guests can meet Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse in a unique immersive retail experience.

In Florida, Universal Orlando Resort is set to debut its Epic Universe in May.
