Explora Journeys popped the bubbly for the first of its six luxury ships, Explora I, which was officially named today in New York City by marine biologist and oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle. We are proud to introduce a new era of discovery and luxurious travel and to showcase our first ship in the vibrant city of New York,” said Michael Ungerer, CEO of Explora Journeys, in a press statement.

Explora I is Just the Start

Explora I, which began sailing in July through Northern Europe, is in New York after visits to Iceland, Greenland and Canada. The first of a series of six luxury vessels, it has 461 oceanfront suites, penthouses and residences, 6 restaurants, 12 indoor and outdoor bars and lounges, 4 swimming pools, private cabanas on its ample outdoor decks and over 10,760 sq. ft. of wellness and fitness areas.

This fall Explora I will remain in North America, after which it will winter in the Caribbean before heading to the West Coast of the US and Hawaii in the spring, followed by a return to Europe in the Summer of 2024. There it will sail through the Mediterranean Sea with itineraries allowing your clients to discover lesser-known ports.

Its sister ship Explora II will be ready for service in the Summer of 2024 and will remain in the Mediterranean and the Middle East through April 2025. The vessels will be joined by Explora III and Explora IV in 2026 and 2027, respectively, with Explora V and Explora VI coming online in 2027 and 2028, respectively.
