Swan Hellenic’s 2027 cultural expedition voyages open a rare window into Brazil’s coastlines and river systems, offering four sailings that combine ecological discovery with coastal exploration. The series begins Apr. 17, 2027, with the 9-night Amazonia in Depth & Lencois Maranhenses voyage, sailing from Fortaleza to Belem with an itinerary designed for in-depth rainforest access. The schedule includes Itaqui, the Rio Cajari Extractive Reserve, Aquiqui, Gurupa, the Furo do Cujuba and the Breves Narrows. Guests will navigate smaller Amazon channels aboard SH Vega, whose size allows access to this environment, which is closed to large vessels.
“We’re incredibly proud of these expertly-curated itineraries. Traveling in exceptional comfort and a refined atmosphere of quiet luxury, guests will be treated to immersive journeys at a relaxed pace through the heart of Brazil,” said Swan Hellenic CEO Andrea Zito in a press statement. “Each voyage benefits to the full from SH Vega’s boutique expedition ship dimensions and our deep commitment to sustainability, taking our guests to discover places beyond the reach of almost all other ships, so they can see what others don’t.

Swan Hellenic Goes to the Amazon

The Amazon-focused program continues on Oct. 5, 2027, with the 11-night Amazon River Expedition: A Cultural Cruise departing Bridgetown. The journey traces a route through Paramaribo, the Salvation Islands, Macapa, the Rio Cajari Extractive Reserve, Afua and the Breves Narrows, concluding in Belem on Oct. 16. This segment can connect directly with the 12-night Expedition Brazil: From the Amazon Delta to Bahia Shores, departing Belem the same day. The itinerary moves north to south through the Breves Narrows and Afua before continuing to Itaqui, Fortaleza, Cabedelo and ending in Salvador de Bahia on Oct. 28.

Your clients can extend these itineraries into a continuous 29-night experience that crosses Suriname, the Salvation Islands and Brazil’s Atlantic coast to Rio de Janeiro.

Completing the calendar is the 6-night Soul, Samba and Sea: Journey to the Heart of Brazil, offered twice—Oct. 25, 2026–Oct. 31, 2026, from Salvador de Bahia to Rio de Janeiro, and repeated Oct. 28–Nov. 3, 2027. The route features Itacare, Trancoso, the Abrolhos Archipelago, Buzios and Arraial do Cabo.

Exploration highlights across the program include Bahia’s Atlantic rainforest, the Abrolhos Marine National Park, humpback whale breeding grounds, and UNESCO-listed sites such as Sao Luís and Lencois Maranhenses National Park.
