Vakkaru Maldives, the private island resort located within the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll, has introduced a new accommodation category: the Overwater Villa with Pool, available to book now for stays beginning Oct. 22, 2026.
The new villas build on the spacious layout and direct lagoon access already found in Vakkaru’s overwater accommodations, adding a private pool suspended above the water.

Vakkaru Maldives’ Newest Category of Luxe
Each Overwater Villa with Pool offers nearly 2,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor living space, plus a 250-foot private outdoor pool overlooking the lagoon. The villas are built for uninterrupted ocean views, expansive sundecks and open indoor-outdoor living.
The new category makes up the resort’s odd-numbered overwater villas, numbered 211 to 245 and adds to Vakkaru’s collection of accommodations. It joins the resort’s Overwater Deluxe Pool Villa, giving guests a second option among the Maldives’ most sought-after accommodation styles.
Alongside the launch, Vakkaru Maldives is renaming its existing Overwater Pool Villa category to Overwater Deluxe Pool Villa. The change applies only to the name, with no changes to villa features, inventory or pricing.
Vakkaru Maldives is reached by a 30-minute seaplane flight or a 20-minute domestic flight followed by a 30-minute speedboat ride. On-site dining includes restaurants such as Vakku, Onu, Amaany and Anguru Teppanyaki, plus a wine cellar stocking more than 680 labels. Merana Spa offers 12 treatment rooms, along with a whirlpool, sauna and steam room. Families can use Parrotfish Club, a supervised program for children ages 3 to 12, while Splash runs diving, watersports and excursions.
