Each spring, the fields of Holland bloom with row after row of tulips, and in 2020 Avalon Waterways will offer five cruises—including three new itineraries—specifically designed for travelers who want to enjoy the colorful spectacle.

The new offerings rolling out next year during Holland’s peak tulip season include the 8-day Tulip Time Highlights, the 8-day Tulip Time in Holland & Belgium itineraries, and the 15-day Grand Tulip Cruise of Holland & Belgium. Avalon’s Tulip Time in Holland & Belgium cruise begins in Amsterdam and ends in Brussels with opportunities to bike the river banks of Arnhem, take a guided walk through a mill, and bake a Vlaai, spend time among ancient architecture in Namur, walk through the streets of the “Fiery City” of Liege, visit the Grote Market in Antwerp, and meander along the Lower Town Streets of Brussels. The Tulip Time Highlights itinerary sails in the opposite direction starting in Brussels with the option to explore Ghent or Bruges before moving on to Rotterdam, Zaandam, and Haarlem—a town especially known for its tulips—then ending in Amsterdam. For those looking for a more in depth experience, the Grand Tulip Time Cruise of Holland & Belgium is a combination of both new cruise itineraries. Other tulip-focused offerings include the 8-day Tulip Time Cruise and Tulips of Northern Holland itineraries.

“Every year, the fields of Holland transform into a colorful wonderland of beauty,” said Pam Hoffee, managing director of Avalon Waterways, in press materials. “It’s a spectacle every world traveler should witness up-close, at least once. And in 2020, we’re giving our guests more opportunities to breathe in the beauty of seven million blooms and tiptoe through the tulips.”

Also in 2020, Avalon’s new Your Way options will allow travelers to add pre- or post-cruise land explorations through an Avalon Waterways land extension, a Monograms independent vacation package, or a Globus escorted touring vacation.
