Rimrock Banff is preparing for its summer 2026 reopening following a multi-million-dollar transformation, introducing a new Expeditions Center and Pathfinder-led experiences designed to help travelers explore Banff National Park through personalized itineraries and expert local guidance.
Located within more than 2,500 square miles of protected wilderness in the Canadian Rockies, the resort will offer guests access to a curated collection of adventures showcasing the region’s landscapes, wildlife and cultural heritage.
At the center of the new program are Rimrock’s Pathfinders, destination experts who work with guests before and throughout their stay to create customized experiences based on individual interests. Through pre-arrival consultations, Pathfinders help design itineraries that range from outdoor adventures and wellness experiences to cultural exploration.
Upon arrival, guests will visit the new Expeditions Center, where Pathfinders provide guidance, logistics support and access to more than 50 seasonal experiences. The program includes private and self-guided options, with details such as transportation coordination, trail recommendations and chef-prepared picnic provisions handled in advance.
New Ways to Explore Banff
The Pathfinder program will introduce travelers to experiences beyond the destination’s most iconic attractions. Highlights include:
- Heli-hiking excursions into remote alpine landscapes accessible only by helicopter
- Forest bathing journeys inspired by the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku
- Alpine yoga sessions surrounded by mountain views
- Canoeing along the Bow River, following routes once traveled by early explorers
- Guided e-bike tours through scenic and lesser-known areas
- Canyon ice walks through frozen waterfalls and limestone corridors
The resort has also partnered with local guides, historians and outdoor experts, including mountain guide Martha McCallum, Rockies Hiking & Yoga founder Michelle Brazier, Original Path founder Scott Berry and local historian Bridget Ryan Carter, to enhance the guest experience.
Leading the initiative is Master Pathfinder Kirstine Bartram, who brings more than two decades of experience exploring and developing experiences throughout the Canadian Rockies. Her background includes roles with Parks Canada, Banff Lake Louise Tourism and Banff Adventures Unlimited.
Rimrock Banff will also introduce a trail-ready gear-lending program in partnership with the Swedish outdoor brand Fjällräven, providing guests with essential equipment for year-round exploration. The resort will officially debut as the first North American property within Emblems Collection, Accor’s ultra-luxury hotel brand, in fall 2026.
