In an era where sustainable travel experiences are increasingly sought after, Kimpton Angler’s South Beach’s Rescue-a-Reef excursion provides eco-conscious travelers the opportunity to engage in coral reef restoration efforts firsthand, alongside experts from the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science.

Designed to provide an immersive and educational experience, the Rescue-a-Reef excursion offers guests a rare opportunity to witness science in action while learning about the importance of coral reef conservation. The half-day outing, located on Key Biscayne, includes a private charter by Deco Divers to Kimpton Angler’s adopted Angler’s Reef site, which the hotel monitors and maintains in partnership with the University of Miami.

Guests can choose from various activities such as snorkeling, diving or simply observing the reef restoration process from the comfort of the charter. To enhance the educational aspect of the excursion, the University of Miami Coral Restoration Lab team can join the outing to provide interactive lessons on reef restoration.

For those seeking a comprehensive experience, optional add-ons include a chef-curated boxed lunch and transfers to and from the nearby marina. Ideal for families, friends, or corporate teams, the curated reef rescue experience accommodates groups of two to 10 people. The Kimpton Angler’s front desk team assists in arranging the 4-hour guided excursions.

Fernando Rivera, General Manager of Kimpton Angler’s South Beach, highlights the hotel’s commitment to ocean conservation and environmental stewardship. “Our desire to make Angler’s a place of discovery for our guests drew us to join University of Miami as part of their citizen science effort and share this important work and the beauty of our oceans with our guests,” says Rivera.
