Nashville attractions have closed their doors to visitors in line with the guidance of government and health officials, and have shifted to offering online experiences including cooking classes, read-aloud bedtime stories and shared playlists.

New virtual experiences include online cooking classes from some of Nashville’s top chefs, such as James Beard Award-winner Sean Brock (Audrey, Joyland, and previously Husk), Tony Galzin (Nicky’s Coal Fired), Matthew Bell (Gray & Dudley), and more. Most of the cooking classes are free of charge, although Sean Brock is offering his classes for a fee with all proceeds earned going to support his team’s wages. Nashville is also doing its part to support the tireless efforts of medical professionals battling on the front lines against COVID-19. In true Music City style, one of the ways the city is showing its support is through Gratitunes. This is a playlist that is shared with Vanderbilt University Medical Center staff and streamed to clinics, and individuals are encouraged to dedicate an uplifting song as a way of saying thanks. Musicians such as Brad Paisley, Amy Grant, Sara Evans, Dustin Lynch, and more have all joined in by dedicating a tune on their social media channels.

The legendary Dolly Parton has started a weekly YouTube series called “Goodnight with Dolly,” where she will read aloud a children’s book from her Imagination Library project. She hopes that the 10-week series will give parents and children “a welcome distraction during a time of unrest and also inspire a love of reading and books.” The first episode aired on Thursday, April 3.

Frist Art Museum is offering a series of Art History Courses throughout the month of April. Art historian Jim Womack will host three classes on a variety of topics, which will be available on Zoom for a small fee.

Additionally, Tennessee Brew Works is pairing with Third Man Records to locally deliver craft beer with a side of vinyl. Learn more about Vinyl Pairings here.
