Delta Air Lines is putting on the Ritz at its Sky Club at Miami International Airport (MIA). The newly renovated and expanded lounge has grown by nearly 4,000 sq. ft., increasing its capacity by more than 50 percent to accommodate approximately 300 guests. The Club now spans just over 12,000 sq. ft.

“Miami is an important global transport hub, with increasing prominence in the Delta network,” said Claude Roussel, Vice President of Sky Clubs and Lounge Experience, in a press statement. The expansion and renovation of the MIA Club help us support the growth in this market and elevate the lounge experience to one suited to the profile of this vibrant city.”

The expansion’s design draws inspiration from Miami’s bright colors and sultry beaches. A new mosaic pays homage to the city’s Art Deco architecture, while the color scheme features turquoise, blue, white and gold accents, pulling from South Florida’s waters, sky and design elements.

The color scheme echoes the city’s palette.

To support the increased guest volume, the Club now includes a new service buffet and an additional beverage station. The seating in the expanded area caters to business travelers, with single-seat dining tables, a communal table with a central charging source and power outlets at nearly every seat (a huge plus!). The Club’s existing seating has also been refurbished to match the elevated aesthetic of the new space.

This expansion marks the start of a year of growth for Delta lounges, with new Sky Clubs opening in Charlotte and Seattle and three Delta One Lounges debuting in JFK, LAX and BOS.

Delta Air Lines will offer 34 peak-day flights from Miami to 12 destinations this summer, including service to Havana, Cuba. All flights will be operated on Delta mainline equipment with premium cabin classes available. By December, Delta’s domestic routes from Miami will include service to all nine of its domestic U.S. hubs, as well as Raleigh, Orlando and Washington D.C., with the addition of daily flights to Seattle.
