Luxury rail company Rocky Mountaineer has partnered with the Moab Music Festival to launch a unique train journey/experience called Sounds in the Southwest. This 8-night musical travel package will depart from Sept. 3-11, 2024, connecting your clients with one of the hottest musical events in the Southwest.

The journey begins with a 2-day Rockies to the Red Rocks rail route from Denver, Colorado, to Moab, Utah, aboard the iconic Rocky Mountaineer. Guests will then spend four nights in Moab, fully immersing themselves in the famous Moab Music Festival, which features gorgeous natural venues set among canyon walls, rivers and towering red rocks.

Post-Festival With Rocky Mountaineer

After the festival, your clients will return to the train for another two days of jaw-dropping American Southwest scenery, which they can view through the enormous panoramic windows.

The Sounds in the Southwest Package includes round-trip travel from Denver onboard Rocky Mountaineer’s SilverLeaf Plus Service, which gives clients exclusive access to the lounge car with live music entertainment and house-made cocktails. The package also includes tickets to four Moab Music Festival programs, round-trip transportation to music venues and destination sightseeing tours.

Of note: Rocky Mountaineer is a daylight-only rail experience, so your clients will have eight nights of hotel accommodations as part of the package.

Sounds in the Southwest Package Itinerary 

  • Day 1: Denver arrival and overnight in Denver, Colorado.

  • Day 2: Denver to Glenwood Springs, crossing the Continental Divide with views of rugged canyons and the Colorado River. Overnight in Glenwood Springs.

  • Day 3: Glenwood Springs to Moab & Red Earth, crossing the Colorado-Utah border. Clients can enjoy the evening concert and reception at the Red Earth Venue. Overnight in Moab, Utah.

  • Day 4: Grotto concert on a jetboat in a secluded grotto in Canyonlands National Park for Moab Music Festival’s signature event. The afternoon and evening are spent in downtown Moab. Overnight in Moab, Utah.

  • Day 5: The day begins with a scenic, guided hike to a secluded canyon for a concert. Overnight in Moab, Utah.

  • Day 6: Floating concert, Canyonlands & Dead Horse Point day. It starts with an open-air boat for a ride and concert on the Colorado River. Then a brunch reception with mimosas, coffee and juices. In the afternoon, they’ll head to Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point for a guided tour. Overnight in Moab, Utah.

  • Day 7: Private tour of Arches National Park, then board the train from Moab to Glenwood Springs. Overnight in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

  • Day 8: Glenwood Springs to Denver aboard the Rocky Mountaineer. Overnight in Denver, Colorado.

  • Day 9: Goodbye from Denver!
