Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is set to expand its Adventureland offerings later this year with the opening of The Beak and Barrel, a pirate-themed tavern that promises an immersive storytelling experience for Disney guests of all ages.

Ahoy there, mateys!

Described as a lively pirate pub established by the fictional Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn, a legendary rumrunner, and her animated first mate, Rummy, a parrot who will keep watch over the tavern from a perch above the bar.

Rummy, who Disney fans may recognize as a nod to the original Barker Bird from Pirates of the Caribbean, will interact with guests by sharing tales and leading toasts in what Disney promises will be a dynamic, character-driven experience.

The tavern’s layout includes “The Mess,” a communal-style dining area that pays homage to the room’s fictional past as a Spanish soldiers’ mess hall. Salvaged shipwreck decor, a candle-covered anchor and a large skull-shaped bar set the tone for the space, which will feature an array of specialty drinks and brews.

One focal point is the “Enchanted Rum Bottle,” said to have been gifted by the character Tia Dalma, tying the location further into the Pirates of the Caribbean universe.

Another section, the “Captains’ Quarters,” offers a slightly more refined setting. This room was once the residence of a Spanish commander, and its current decor includes weathered paintings, damaged drapery and miniature ships-in-bottles that, according to Disney legend, may spring to life in battle.

While Disney has yet to announce the official opening date or full menu details, The Beak & Barrel is expected to appeal to fans of immersive dining and character storytelling.
