Intrepid Travel has introduced three new Women’s Expeditions in Peru, Cambodia and Bhutan, expanding its portfolio of women-led small-group tours.
The new itineraries, ranging from eight to 11 days, are led by local female trip leaders and feature experiences developed with women-owned businesses and female-led tourism initiatives.
With the addition of the new departures, Intrepid’s Women’s Expeditions portfolio now includes eight itineraries worldwide. The trips are designed to support women working in tourism in destinations where gender barriers remain a challenge.
Growing Demand for Women-Focused Travel Experiences
According to Intrepid Travel, women now represent more than half of the company’s travelers, while its Women’s Expeditions range grew 32 percent in 2025. The majority of travelers on these trips—about 77 percent—book as solo travelers.
“As we continue to evolve our Women’s Expeditions range, we’re prioritising destinations where tourism can deliver meaningful positive impact, while offering unique, women-led experiences for our travellers,” said Erika Kritikides, General Manager of Experiences at Intrepid Travel, in a media statement. “These trips support women tourism entrepreneurs and help break down gender barriers in the industry – and as women step forward, they’re holding the door open for others to follow.”
Highlights of the New Expeditions
Each itinerary focuses on experiences that provide insight into the lives of local women while supporting businesses and initiatives led by women in the destination.
On the Peru Women’s Expedition, travelers explore the Peruvian Andes on the lesser-known Chinchero to Urquillos hike, guided by an all-female crew. In Cambodia, the itinerary includes a street food tour with TukTuk Srey, a women-led transportation enterprise that employs female tuk-tuk drivers. Meanwhile, the Bhutan Women’s Expedition takes travelers through the Himalayan landscapes before concluding with a traditional herbal hot stone bath at a women-owned farmhouse.
