Gabriel Castrillon, general manager of the 359-room Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino, is seeing tourism come back to the island although slowly.
“After being quarantined in your home for so many months, people are ready to get out although carefully, and the one thing I am hearing is that everyone feels safe here in Aruba,” says Castrillon.
The island reopened on July 1 after being shut down in March. “We received 13,000 tourists in July although that is 35 percent of what it used to be,” says Castrillon.
When guests do arrive at the beachfront property on Aruba’s Palm Beach, they will find a refreshed property with new amenities after undergoing a multi-million-dollar renovation.
A new adults-only pool, Trankilo, includes ten outdoor cabanas accommodating up to six people and featuring a private entrance and stairway to the saltwater adults-only pool, ensuring privacy and peace of mind. Guests can utilize the private butler that solely caters to visitors who are renting the cabanas and can receive spa treatments in select cabanas as well.
The new ZoiA Spa encourages guests to find balance through the Spa’s emphasis on energy, purity, serenity and devotion. It is the ideal place to unwind and take part in self-care.
Spa therapists use face masks and shields and utilize gloves upon request. There is an air purifier that sanitizes and purifies the air through patented UV germicidal technology in each of the six treatment rooms.
The resort launched two new ways to dine safely outdoors while soaking in ocean breezes and sunsets. Guests can enjoy Dining Under the Stars on the Dos Playa Deck between the pool and the beach and have a three-course meal ranging from seafood to fresh salad and select meats, and more. Piet’s Pier Bar, one of the best places on the island to watch the sunset, now offers dinner for the first time.
The newly enhanced casino has 44 new state-of-the-art slot machines that are all strategically placed throughout the venue. The non-smoking casino also offers additional slot machines, gaming tables and video poker machines that have also been redesigned to comply with the new safety protocols.
