HX Expeditions is giving travelers more ways to explore the world’s polar regions with the launch of its 2028-2029 season, which features 57 voyages across 14 destinations, including 26 new itineraries and two destinations new to the expedition cruise line.
The new season adds shorter expedition options in Alaska and Greenland, HX’s first dedicated Scandinavia program and new voyages through Antarctica, South Georgia and the Arctic. The line will also introduce nine new Ocean Crossing itineraries connecting its expedition regions.
New Ways to Explore Alaska and Antarctica
In Alaska, HX is replacing its previous 10- and 13-day Alaska’s Inside Passage—Wilderness & Culture itineraries with new 8-day voyages between Vancouver and Sitka. The northbound and southbound sailings spend five full days exploring Southeast Alaska, with no ports repeated between the two routes, allowing travelers to combine them into a 15-day roundtrip expedition from Vancouver.
The line is also adding two 17-day Aleutians to Katmai: Wild Alaska Revealed expeditions between Vancouver and Whittier. The itineraries incorporate local and Indigenous knowledge, with new calls at Kake and Elfin Cove.
In Antarctica, HX will introduce the 19-day Antarctica & South Georgia – Kingdoms of Ice and Wildlife, combining the Antarctic Peninsula with South Georgia and its abundant wildlife and connections to the history of polar exploration.
HX Expands into Scandinavia
The upcoming season marks HX’s first dedicated Scandinavia program, with voyages aboard MS Spitsbergen exploring Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway.
Among the new itineraries is Sweden & Finland: Autumn in the Gulf of Bothnia, which will sail through the UNESCO-listed Kvarken Archipelago and coastal communities in Sweden and Finland. Another new option, Southern Scandinavia: Between Norwegian Fjords and Swedish Isles, connects Copenhagen and Bergen through Sweden’s coastal islands and Norway’s fjords.
New Arctic Canada and Greenland Itineraries
HX is adding a 19-day Into the Northwest Passage—Circumnavigating Baffin Island, an expedition designed to explore the island’s fjords, waterways and remote communities while highlighting Inuit culture and history.
Greenland gets a new 8-day option with Discovering West Greenland—Icebergs & Communities of Disko Bay. The voyage includes Nuuk, Disko Bay and the UNESCO-listed Ilulissat Icefjord, along with visits to remote communities.
More Time at Sea & Svalbard
HX will operate 23 departures to Svalbard in 2028, its largest program in the archipelago to date. For travelers who enjoy the journey as much as the destination, HX is adding nine Ocean Crossing voyages across the Atlantic and Pacific.
The line will continue its year-round Galapagos program aboard MS Santa Cruz II, with established itineraries exploring the islands’ wildlife and options that extend trips to Machu Picchu.
