CIE Tours is broadening its European offerings with the launch of Northern Spain & Portugal, a new guided itinerary debuting in 2027 that marks the company’s first-ever expansion into Portugal.
Available on select departures from February through December 2027, the 11- and 12-day itinerary takes travelers on a journey across the Iberian Peninsula, beginning in Madrid and winding through northern Spain before crossing into Portugal and ending in Lisbon.
Certain departures will operate as small-group experiences limited to just 26 guests, catering to travelers seeking a more intimate and immersive touring experience.
“For more than 90 years, CIE Tours has focused on helping travelers experience the local culture, traditions, and food that make a destination memorable,” said Stephen Cotter, Managing Director of CIE Tours, in a media statement. “With our new Northern Spain & Portugal tour, we’re delighted to give guests the opportunity to experience some of the Iberian Peninsula’s most distinctive regions, while expanding into Portugal for the first time in CIE Tours history.”
A Deeper Dive Into the Iberian Peninsula
The 11-day itinerary showcases some of northern Spain’s most celebrated regions, including Rioja’s wine country, the Basque Country, the coastlines of Cantabria and Asturias and the historic pilgrimage destination of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia.
The journey then continues into Portugal, where guests will explore Porto, known for its centuries-old port wine tradition, the medieval town of Obidos and the capital city of Lisbon. A longer 12-day version adds an extra day in Lisbon. The itinerary also includes a winery tour and tasting lunch in Rioja, a pintxos walking tour through the streets of San Sebastian and a cruise on the Douro River beneath Porto’s iconic bridges.
