Clients who have known and loved Sandals Dunn’s River since it first opened its doors 30 years ago in Jamaica will be absolutely wowed by its new incarnation—after a lengthy wait and a considerable investment, the luxuriously renovated all-inclusive hotel has re-opened with 260 reimagined suites and brand new culinary concepts.

“Ocho Rios has been the backdrop of some of my family’s most pivotal moments, including along this very beach where my father grew up and turned a perhaps once unimaginable dream into one of the world’s most well-known hotel brands,” said Adam Stewart, executive chairman of Sandals Resorts International (SRI), in a press statement. “Today, we celebrate innovation and a commitment to excellence as we unveil the next generation of Sandals Resorts in our home country of Jamaica. I cannot think of a better way to honor his legacy and acknowledge the incredible future of our brand than to welcome our very first guests to Sandals Dunn’s River. It’s great to have you home.”

A New Era for Sandals Dunn’s River

There’s no doubting this resort’s deep-rooted sense of place—your clients will know they’re in Jamaica every second of their stay. Water from its namesake falls literally runs through the lobby and the Red Lane Spa, and even the air guests breathe carries with it an island vibe: this opening, in fact, also marks the debut of the brand’s first-ever signature scent.

“Sweetening” the stay is the resort’s gorgeously elevated suites and guestrooms: the Tufa Terrace SkyPool Butler Suites are the first on the island with glass panel edge infinity pools; the iconic circular villas that enclose the Coyaba Sky Swim-Up Rondoval Butler Suites with Private Pools have been completely redone; the Mammee Bay Beachfront Butler Suites have enormous balconies with sunset ocean views; and the Travertine Beachfront Club Level Rooms are beautifully decorated and luxurious in their own right.

Gourmands will find their place in the sun in any of the 12 new culinary concepts—that’s right, 12—including BLŪMthe coffee “outpost” with its very own coffee-drinking concept and fresh pastries, and Dunn’s Rum Club for indulging in the Caribbean’s iconic beverage of choice—guests can pick their preference from the largest selection of rum on Jamaica. The Lapidus Lounge is made for swanky evenings, while the Laughing Waters Beach Bar and the Jerk Shack cater to casual eats and drinks.

Of note: Sandals Dunn’s River guests will enjoy complimentary green fees at the newly refurbished Sandals Upton Estate Golf & Country Club. If they’re more adventurous, they can dive into the clear Caribbean waters with PADI instructors, go river-rafting on the Martha Brae River and more with the resort’s Luxury Included activities.
