Baoase Luxury Resort, a boutique resort in Curaçao, is entering a new phase with a name change to Baoase Curaçao and a resort expansion set to open in early 2027.
“Our standards, service and attention to detail remain unchanged,” said Thijs van der Valk, managing director of Baoase, in a press statement. “The transition from Baoase Luxury Resort to Baoase Curaçao is not a change in who we are, but a clearer expression of who we have always been. Luxury has never been about what we call ourselves. It has always been about how we make our guests feel through every interaction, every detail and every moment of their stay.”
Van der Valk said the name change was also about recognition. While the resort’s design draws on Balinese influences, he said it has been the people of Curaçao who built its reputation over the years.
Baoase: New Name, Same Standards
The expansion will add 14 accommodations, bringing the resort’s total to 37 once complete. The new units were designed using lessons gathered over nearly 15 years of operation, with updated technology and design details worked in without altering the resort’s smaller-scale feel.
Niels van der Valk, director of Baoase, said the expansion was built around one guiding idea. “This expansion is not about becoming bigger; it’s about becoming better,” he said in a press statement. “Growth only has value when it strengthens the guest experience. It allows us to welcome more guests while preserving the intimacy, attention to detail and deeply personal service that have always defined the Baoase experience. By combining contemporary comforts and thoughtfully integrated technology with the timeless design principles that have shaped Baoase for nearly 15 years, we have created accommodations that feel both familiar and entirely new.”
Leadership noted the goal moving forward is to keep the resort’s intimate scale intact even as the accommodation count grows, positioning Baoase Curaçao as a small, service-driven property rather than a larger resort operation.
