Baja’s East Cape Welcomes Aman’s New Amanvari Resort

Amanvari has opened on Baja’s East Cape, marking Aman’s entry into Mexico and its latest expansion in the Americas. Built within the private Costa Palmas community on the Sea of Cortes, the resort holds 18 standalone Casitas along with a limited collection of Aman-branded residences.

“The opening of Amanvari is a significant milestone in Aman’s continued expansion in the Americas,” said Speaking about the opening, Vlad Doronin, Chairman and CEO of Aman Group, in a press statement. “The resort, Aman-branded residences and amenities bring the Aman lifestyle to one of Mexico’s most exceptional coastal locations for the first time. Combining a unique setting, thoughtful design and architecture, generosity of space and the unparalleled service synonymous with Aman, Amanvari establishes a new benchmark for hospitality on Baja’s East Cape.”

Amanvari: Peace & Water

The name combines the Sanskrit words for peace and water, a reference to the point where sea, desert and estuary meet beneath the Sierra de la Laguna mountains. The design sets desert against water throughout, framing views of open sea and sky.

Each Casita sits at the water’s edge, some raised above the estuary and others set closer to shore, with double-story units capturing views across the estuary and Sea of Cortes. At 883 sq. ft., every Casita includes a terrace of up to 1,700 sq. ft., a private heated pool measuring 32 feet in length, an outdoor shower and a fireplace. Wood, stone and fair-faced white concrete applied by hand make up the material palette throughout.

Dining includes several venues. Luma serves Mexican coastal food cooked over open fire, while the Lounge Bar and The Pool offer all-day options built around produce from regional farms and local fisheries. Arva focuses on Italian dishes served family style, and Sesui offers Japanese cuisine with a 10-seat omakase counter and a separate room for a la carte orders.

The Aman Spa and Wellness center pairs the brand’s wellness approach with healing traditions from Mexico, centered on a reimagined Temazcal sweat lodge, the first of its kind for Aman. The space also includes a banya and hammam, six treatment rooms, a 24-hour fitness center with a multifunctional studio, a beauty salon with head spa services, outdoor relaxation areas and an open-air yoga pavilion.

Guests can also access experiences tied to the setting, including trips into the Sierra de la Laguna mountains, horseback riding across coastal and desert terrain, private boat outings, visits to the coral reefs of Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park and seasonal whale watching. Through Costa Palmas, Amanvari connects guests to a 1,500-acre estate that includes 18 acres of organic farms and orchards, three miles of swimmable beachfront, a golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones II and a deep-water marina and yacht club.

Aman’s upcoming projects include properties in Miami Beach, Beverly Hills, the Exuma Islands in the Bahamas and Texas Hill Country.
