While low-cost air carriers are popular among visitors to Europe, rail travel continues to be the preferred mode of transportation for independent travelers according to Avanti Destinations. To help travel advisors understand the advantages of European rail travel, Avanti has teamed up with several European rail companies to create an informational campaign and also offer bonus commissions for a limited time.

In conjunction with Rail Europe, the Swiss Travel System, France’s high-speed TGV, the high-speed Eurostar train (linking England with the continent), Thalys (linking Paris-Brussels-Amsterdam), Italy’s Trenitalia, TGV Lyria service (linking France and Switzerland), the France-Spain High-Speed Train, and Germany’s InterCityExpress, Avanti Destinations has released a new 51-page e-brochure titled “The Best Way to Explore Europe.” The e-brochure features 26 customizable multi-destination Avanti itineraries linked by rail throughout Europe, including 12 new itineraries. It also explains the differences between different classes of service, railpasses versus point-to-point tickets, and high-speed trains versus more leisurely scenic trains. There is also useful information about the latest developments in each rail system, plus details on special services, such as wheelchair assistance and onboard amenities available on many trains.

“Rail is the ‘secret sauce’ that makes it easy to connect the dots of multiple destinations in Europe,” Avanti executive chairman Paul Barry said in press materials. “Rail is used in more than 80 percent of the customized FIT itineraries that Avanti crafts for travel agents’ clients going to Europe, and it is ideal for custom group travel, whether the group is small or large.”

Examples of the new rail-based itineraries featured in the e-brochure include the 9-day Dutch Culture & Belgian Cuisine trip visiting Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Brussels, where a private gourmet walking tour is included; the weeklong Riviera Charm itinerary stopping in Nice and Cinque Terre; and the 13-day Road to Iberia, which travels from Paris to Seville with stops in Barcelona and Madrid along the way.

As an added incentive to book clients on a rail-based itinerary, Avanti Destinations is offerings travel advisors a $50 bonus commission for each booking of $1,500 or more made before Feb. 28, 2019 for travel taking place by March 31, 2019.
