Adventures by Disney has added a new itinerary to its 2020 lineup, plus adult-exclusive experiences. The tour operator will transport guests to the land of pharaohs and pyramids in 2020 with the launch of a new family vacation itinerary in Egypt, a three-part tour featuring adventures by land, river and sea.
The new Ultimate Egypt Experiences—Transcending Time and Terrain will highlight both ancient and modern Egypt as guests take in landmarks and the destination’s history. There will also be interactive introductions to the customs and culture of contemporary Cairo. From there, travelers will take a cruise along the Nile River and take in the shores of the Red Sea. The 10-day itinerary includes visits to ancient monuments with an expert Egyptologist including the pyramids and the Sphinx of Giza, the Valley of the Kings and Tutankhamen’s tomb, as well as the temples of Luxor, Kom Ombo, Horus at Edfu, Philae and Karnak. Guests will take part in immersive experiences at the new Grand Egyptian Museum, which opens to the public in 2020. Here, they’ll go on an interactive King Tut-themed treasure hunt or peruse the museum’s exhibits at their leisure. They will also have access to the inner wonders of the Great Pyramid of Giza during a tour of the burial chambers of Pharaoh Cheops. In addition, there will be interactive cultural experiences such as a chef-led cooking class on Egyptian specialties, a Nubian folkloric show and henna tattoo experience, plus a hieroglyphic writing lesson. Other highlights include a voyage on a traditional Egyptian felucca sailboat as they visit local markets and enjoy a private beachside Bedouin-themed dinner; a 3-night cruise along the Nile River followed by a 2-night stay at a luxurious beachside resort in Sharm El Sheikh, including a full day snorkeling excursion on a private boat to visit the famous coral reefs of the Red Sea.
There will be 11 Egypt departures in 2020, five of which will be reserved for adult-only travelers. The adult-only itinerary features an exclusive VIP tour of the conservation rooms at the Grand Egyptian Museum, where millennia-old artifacts lie uncovered and unrestored.
Expanded Adults-Only Adventures
As part of Adventures by Disney expansion of adult-exclusive departures, new programming will be added to select itineraries in 2020 to further expand the offerings for experienced adults. Examples of the new adult-exclusive experiences include a ceviche cooking class and artisan beer tasting in Costa Rica, a culinary walking tour of Athens’ central market in Greece, a behind-the-scenes experience at a Sichuan “face-changing” opera in China, a premium 5-course meal with cocktail pairings in Australia, mango-carving and coffee-tasting activities in Laos, and a private nighttime excursion in search of the Northern Lights in Iceland.
An enhanced Montana and Yellowstone National Park itinerary takes guests glamping under the stars while staying at a rustic dude ranch, while also visiting the Norris Geyser Basin and spending a night in Bozeman, Montana. Also added to the roster for 2020 is a new vacation in southern France along the Rhone River with 27 departures including itineraries on the Danube, Rhine, and Seine rivers. River cruise adventures for 2020 are currently available for booking, and bookings for all other itineraries open to the public on May 16, 2019.
