Last year IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts marked the 30th anniversary of its first hotels in Mallorca. Today it has more than 100 properties in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and Mexico, and more are in the pipeline.

Of course, the idea of what makes a “perfect vacation” isn’t static, so, as Long explains, “IBEROSTAR is constantly adapting and changing to match the evolving needs of travelers based on industry trends and client feedback. Just last year, we launched Star Fit, a program that helps guests maintain a fitness regimen on vacation.” Another innovative program that’s back this year, Chef on Tour, features “bespoke dining experiences by Michelin-starred chefs from all over the world at our adults-only Grand Collection properties.” And that’s just a fraction of what’s new with IBEROSTAR:

“In May IBEROSTAR will open another property in Cuba, the IBEROSTAR Bella Vista Varadero, a five-star, 827-room all-inclusive for families,” says Long. Also in May, IBEROSTAR will open its latest adults-only hotel, the 66-room and -suite IBEROSTAR Grand Hotel Portals Nous, in Calvia (Mallorca, Spain).

The June debut of the 96-room IBEROSTAR Berkeley, in South Beach, will make it the company’s second hotel in the United States after IBEROSTAR 70 Park Avenue. “Both are part of our strategy to grow IBEROSTAR’s presence in urban areas,” notes Long.

Meanwhile, the Grand Collection is undergoing upgrades. For example, IBEROSTAR Grand Hotel Bavaro in the Dominican Republic will revamp public areas including the swimming pool, buffet restaurant and lobby. IBEROSTAR Cancun is getting a
new 156-suite, 13-story tower on the beach that is expected to be completed in December.

“Over the next five years, we will continue to grow our offerings to meet the needs of all travelers, and exceeding expectations will remain our number one priority,” says Long. “Providing the best resources for our travel agents will also remain a top priority, so we’ll offer new learning tools, programs, and materials for addressing clients’ needs and selling our products.
