The new five-star Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana is set to open in the Dominican Republic in October 2021.

The new resort will be the second resort for the Island Reserve brand, created by Karisma Hotels & Resorts in partnership with Margaritaville, and the first in the Dominican Republic. Bookings are now open with a grand opening rate starting at $209 per person per night.

“After launching the Island Reserve concept in Riviera Maya, we’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Margaritaville to bring this lifestyle to the Dominican Republic in a way that really captures Cap Cana as a destination,” said Mario Mathieu, senior vice president of business development, design and construction, Karisma Hotels & Resorts, in a press release statement. “Cap Cana is the ideal setting for the newest addition to the portfolio, truly encompassing the carefree escapism that is central to the brand.”

Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana is located on Playa Juanillo, known for its white sand beaches, and is just 15 minutes from the Punta Cana International Airport. The resort will feature 228 suites and 40 villas, including 30 luxury room types such as swim up and honeymoon suites. The Jimmy Buffett Suite will offer views of the Caribbean Sea from the top floor of the main guest building, as well as indoor and outdoor entertainment spaces including a 300-sq.-ft. furnished terrace and a custom-built grill for private dining experiences.

A signature element of the resort will be its 40 luxury Island Reserve villas with exclusive access to a sprawling lagoon pool and an S.O.S. Swim Up Bar. Each villa will offer a king-size bed, kitchenette, breakfast bar, living room, and expansive outdoor terrace offering either a private pool or direct access to the lagoon pool.

“We are excited to introduce Margaritaville Island Reserve to Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic, one of the most stunning beaches in the world,” said John Cohlan, CEO of Margaritaville, in a press release statement. “Our expanding partnership with Karisma is all about delivering the ultimate island experience – relaxation, fun, exceptional dining, over-the-top service, and quality entertainment – all to be enjoyed in the Margaritaville state of mind.”

Daily entertainment can be found at the Margaritaville Main Stage, an urban theater area that will also be home to seven of the resort’s 10 food and beverage options, including Frank & Lola’s Italian Trattoria, JWB Steakhouse, and Pan-Asian restaurant Mon So Wi. Bars will include the centrally located Rum Runners, and the poolside 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Swim Up Bar, offering views of Juanillo Beach. The resort will also include the 11,000-sq.-ft. St. Somewhere Spa, and the 2,200-sq.-ft. Fins Up! Fitness Center.

Bookings are open with Island Reserve Inclusive rates covering all accommodations with tax, premium food & beverage offerings, 24-hour room service, Island Ambassador personal concierge service and more. Grand opening rates start at $209 per person per night for bookings through Jun. 15, 2021 for travel from Oct. 1 through Jun. 30, 2022.

The resort will open under Karisma Hotels & Resorts’ well-being program Karisma Peace of Mind, which includes a free, onsite antigen test for guests traveling to the U.S. per CDC requirements.
