Audley Travel hosted its first U.S. travel advisor FAM trip in Morocco, bringing nine advisors together for an 8-day itinerary designed to build destination expertise and strengthen their ability to sell tailor-made travel.
Hosted by Regional Sales Directors David Guido and Stephanie Copeland, the FAM showcased Morocco through cultural, culinary and historical experiences while giving advisors firsthand insight into the destination and Audley’s approach to FIT travel.
The itinerary included Rabat, Fez, Chefchaouen, Tangier, Meknes, Volubilis and Casablanca, with experiences ranging from guided city tours and artisan encounters to a hands-on cooking class and visits to landmarks including the Hassan II Mosque.
Building FIT Expertise
The trip also connected to Audley’s “Love at First FIT” contest, which gives an advisor new to selling FIT travel the opportunity to gain firsthand experience that can be shared with clients.
Florida-based advisor and agency owner Athena Petrou of GMH Travel was the contest winner and joined the Morocco FAM.
“This Morocco FAM was an important milestone for our U.S. trade business and a reflection of how much we value our advisor partnerships,” said Cathy Kusuma Bennis, VP of Trade & Partnerships at Audley Travel, in a press statement. “Giving advisors the opportunity to experience a destination firsthand creates a level of knowledge and confidence that directly benefits their clients.”
Petrou said: “Experiencing Morocco with Audley Travel was an experience I will never forget. From the incredible hospitality and expert guides to the rich culture, history, and warmth we encountered throughout the journey, every part of the trip felt truly special. Just as meaningful were the amazing colleagues I traveled with, many of whom became close friends.”
Michael Poe of Sunsets & Beyond Travel said the itinerary also allowed advisors to experience Morocco beyond traditional sightseeing. “Not because I’m a travel agent, but because I’m a traveler first, I’m always looking for those authentic experiences that let me get beneath the surface of a destination. Audley’s country specialist created an amazing, wonderfully eclectic itinerary that took us well beyond the usual tourist experience.”
Audley says the Morocco FAM is part of its broader effort to support U.S. travel advisors through destination education, training and ongoing trade engagement.
