Recently, we snuck away to EAST, Miami, a Swire Hotels property that has been open for about a year in the heart of Miami’s Brickell neighborhood. During our visit, we had time to check out the recently opened Brickell City Centre, an open-air shopping mall that connects to EAST, Miami.
But that’s not all that’s easily accessible from EAST, Miami. There’s also the vibrant neighborhood of Wynwood, where you can get lost wandering around taking in the street art that surrounds you. Here, the Wynwood Walls are a popular spot to check out some of the best street art from both local and international artists. And, for another type of art we chose the Perez Art Museum, which has many permanent and ongoing exhibitions. Plus from here, the views of Biscayne Bay aren’t too shabby. For dinner, we headed to El Tucan where we enjoyed dinner and a cabaret show. Two seatings are held at both 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. We were scheduled for 8 p.m., but enjoyed it so much we stayed for the 11 p.m. show. Though both viewings were absolutely fantastic and a little bit risqué, the 11 p.m. show was a tad bit more spicy—keep that in mind when scheduling clients who might be a bit more conservative.
Now, as for EAST, Miami, my corner Bayview guestroom made it hard to want to leave and explore the city. The tasty eats from Quinto la Huella also didn’t leave much reason to leave the property. And for those looking for a buzzing nightlife, the rooftop lounge, Sugar, not only provides tasty tapas-style choices and thirst quenching cocktails, but also lively music and a happening social scene.
