The Bahamas is lowering two barriers at once this fall and winter: how hard it is to get there and how much it costs to stay. New nonstop air routes from Florida are landing alongside resort offers spanning three price points, while a run of dining, wellness and entertainment openings gives visitors more reasons to book beyond the beach.

Getting to The Bahamas

Access from Florida is the bigger structural shift. Breeze Airways now flies twice weekly between Tampa International Airport and Lynden Pindling International Airport, the first direct jet service between the two cities in more than 20 years, with introductory one-way fares from $99 for bookings made before Feb. 3, 2027. Tradewind Aviation will add a daily 48-minute nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Nassau starting Dec. 10, as part of a 30 percent expansion of its overall Bahamas schedule, which also serves Marsh Harbor and North Eleuthera.

Nassau’s airport remains one of 15 worldwide offering U.S. Customs and Immigration preclearance, so passengers clear customs before departure and arrive as domestic travelers.

Where to Stay and Save

Three Nassau properties are discounting stays through the fall, each with a different structure. Grand Hyatt Baha Mar is cutting rates rather than adding nights; SLS Baha Mar and Rosewood Baha Mar are both extending stays for free instead.

• Grand Hyatt Baha Mar’s Escape to Paradise package offers up to 25 percent off guestroom rates plus a food and beverage credit for bookings made by Sept. 29, 2026, with children 5 and under eating free and complimentary access to Baha Bay Waterpark.
• SLS Baha Mar is offering a complimentary fourth night and a $250 food-and-beverage credit for stays between May 1 and Oct. 31, 2026, if booked by Oct. 31, 2026.
• Rosewood Baha Mar is offering a complimentary fourth night and a daily $100 resort credit on select stays.

What’s New Now

Two openings have already landed at Baha Mar. Vibe BBQ, a barbecue concept from chef Marcus Samuelsson, is serving smoked brisket sandwiches, dry-rubbed ribs, coconut rice and peas and cornbread daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the East Beach Walkway, next to Grand Hyatt’s Fortune Pool. Nearby, The Studio has opened as a podcast recording space and cafe near Cable Beach, built with professional sound equipment and an Aputure lighting system; its cafe and bar serve coffee, breakfast, lunch and cocktails from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

• Oct. 16-19: The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort, hosts its Nature Reset weekend on Paradise Island, part of a wellness expansion that also added two illuminated padel courts, three resurfaced Har-Tru tennis courts, a basketball court and a turf field.
• Oct. 21-25: The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival returns to Baha Mar for its fifth year, including the fourth annual FUZE Art Expo and an opening party, A Taste of Baha Mar, with OneRepublic performing.
• Nov. 13-15: Abaco Beach Resort and Boat Harbor Marina host their second annual pickleball tournament, with clinics, bracket play and wine-pairing dinners.
• Nov. 29, 2026-Jan. 8, 2027: Atlantis Paradise Island debuts a new holiday circus production, Pomp, Snow & CIRQUEumstance, at the Atlantis Theatre.

• Jan. 31, 2027: The inaugural Run Bahamas Race Weekend starts at 6 a.m. from Goodman’s Bay with a full marathon, a four-person relay, a half marathon, a 10K and the Colors of Courage 5K, plus virtual marathon and half marathon options; the course passes Rawson and Pompey Squares, Saunders Beach, Arawak Cay and West Bay Street.
