This spring will mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day and tour operator Classic Journeys is inviting history buffs on a new itinerary exploring the historic regions of Brittany and Normandy in honor of the milestone celebration.

This Northern France itinerary will begin in the coastal region of Mont Dol, where guests will have three full days to explore the countryside of Brittany, highlights include a cooking lesson in Breton cuisine and a sampling of French seafood, as well as the opportunity to walk across the tidal flats to the medieval island fortress of Mont Saint Michel. The second half of the trip will explore some of the most historic D-Day battle sites in Normandy, including visits to Pointe du Hoc and Omaha Beach. Based at the Chateau Hotel, guests will explore the area by going on scenic coastal walks, tasting local apple brandy and viewing the art of the original French impressionist painters Eugene Boudin, Louis-Alexandre Dubourg and Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot.

The new Northern France itinerary is available for travel starting in mid May 2019 through the first week of October 2019. Rates start at $4,995 pp dbl including accommodations for all six nights, tour guides, land transportation, daily breakfasts, three lunches and four dinners. Trip extensions are available at an additional cost.
